I'm sure you have heard the ridiculous goings on about the government trying to regulate artisanal soap makers. Really? Don't these people have enough to do already? They don't want our food sources disclosed or want us informed as to what we are actually consuming and now soap? Big business is behind this and so are the shareholders of those companies whose chemicals slowly poison us with tumors, cancers, fertility challenges etc. Read on for more viewpoints. I was making another batch of Black Mint Charcoal soap and decided to add a splash of Ravensara Essentail Oil to the mix. I bought Ravensara because I was looking for something totally unique and I found it. This oil is typically blended with other earthy oils but today I included it with mints - peppermint, spearmint and rosemary. I think it gives the soap a little something "undefinable" hidden in the background. To learn about Ravensara, click here
Canola Oil seems to have received some negative press regarding its use in soaping so I decided to do some research on my own and discovered that while it should not be used as more than 20% of the oils, it's actually good for you. It contains Vitamin E and omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids which help combat premature aging, as well as soothe dry/irritated skin. Read here for more info

An interesting link regarding the use of anti-bacterial soap and/or hand sanitizer. I never use either because I don't believe in it. We have natural defenses and need to build up our immune system, not our continued resistance to medication and seasonal ailments. Triclosan, the ingredient used in these products has been shown to cause liver tumors...read here for more info.
